ABOUT THIS PODCAST

My Podcast (LISTEN)

USING A PODCAST IN THE CLASSROOM
Effective learning and communication requires one to have good listening skills. It is important that students acquire this skill during their classroom experience. A Podcast is an excellent tool for teachers to use to help horn students listening skills.
Using a podcast to share general information in class, it can conserve on photocopying and use of paper.  Also, podcasts can be used as an assessment project, for students to listen and answer questions based on the information heard. Also, the accessibility of the podcast would be available via cell phones or tablets integrating the use of technology in the classroom.

MY REFLECTION

The assignment comprised of making a podcast on an issue, that students attending teacher training, were faced with, and to prepare a report on the details.  The members comprised of the trio, two females and a male, worked together to complete the project.

We started the project by sharing our experiences to date with the program and came to a conclusion that each member did have an issue that needed to be aired. The approach we took was that we would first compliment and then raise our issue.

I assumed the role of group leader and had to ensure the following:

    That the scripts were coordinated

Assemble the equipment (laptop, microphone, speakers)

Choose a suitable environment for recording

I enjoyed working with the group and appreciated the strengths they both brought to the team.

Podcasting was something totally new to me and after doing the research and completing the exercise; I could clearly see the range of possibilities that exist for using the technology.

What I would change in making this podcast would be elaborating further the discussions on the issues and giving possible solutions to the project, and this would have added to the overall length of the podcast.
